Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2012 Release
The Birthday Bourbon are released on 2nd September annually to mark the birthday of the distillery’s founder, George Garvin Brown. This is the 2012 release distilled in 2000.
Master Distiller Chris Morris writes, “For this bourbon, the malt ratio was increased in our mash bill before putting it into the fermenter, which resulted in a noticeably nutty spirit. Once barreled, the barrel was stored high up on the 4th floor of Warehouse H, where it experienced a balanced maturation. This lofty location gave an unusual amount to the Angel’s Share, resulting in a richly intense flavor concentration.” 95 Points, Ultimate Recommendation in the 2013 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
Since its introduction in 2002, Old Forester Birthday Bourbon has received unprecedented acclaim and has collected honors from USA Today, Malt Advocate, Whisky Magazine, Spirit Journal, and Santé. A favorite among critics, Old Forester Birthday Bourbon has taken home gold from numerous tasting competitions including a gold medal in the 2005, 2006 & 2007 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The 2007 expression was also named American Whiskey of the Year at Malt Advocate WhiskyFest New York. Bottled in honor of George Garvin Brown, the founder of Louisville-based Brown-Forman and Old Forester, America’s First Bottled Bourbon.
